Inside job? New report claims hacked DNC emails which rocked the presidential election were actually a LEAK

  • In a new report, forensic experts and former NSA experts argue DNC hack was an inside job
  • Report argues the files in the hack would have taken longer to download
  • Therefore the hack, was actually done by someone onsite at the DNC
  • Report says files must've been downloaded to portable storage device locally
  • It has previously been suggested that Russia was involved in the hack
A new report suggests the DNC hack, one of several that rocked the 2016 presidential election, was an inside job.
According to The Nation, forensic experts and four former NSA employees claim to have new evidence that the Democratic National Committee hack happened locally with a memory key or other portable storage device.
The experts speaking to The Nation argue the files were too large to have been transmitted over the internet, therefore they must have happened on site, by someone within the DNC.
Donald Trump in 2016 suggested the DNC hack was an inside job however he has backed off on that stance, saying the DNC left itself vulnerable to hackers- it could've been Russia or anyone

The Nation's article reads: 'The volume of the supposedly hacked material and what is called the transfer rate is the time a remote hack would require. The metadata established several facts in this regard with granular precision: On the evening of July 5, 2016, 1,976 megabytes of data were downloaded from the DNC’s server. The operation took 87 seconds. This yields a transfer rate of 22.7 megabytes per second.'
The experts, as The Nation says, prove that 'no Internet service provider, such as a hacker would have had to use in mid-2016, was capable of downloading data at this speed'
Additionally the hack, which has been claimed to have occurred in Romania, would 'for numerous reasons technically called delivery overheads... slow down the speed of a hack even further from maximum achievable speeds.'

The evidence, the experts suggest to the Nation, shows that the DNC was not hacked, and instead there was a leak from within.
It's been suggested the DNC hack was done by someone working for the Russian government

The report doesn't go as far to say who may have been responsible.
President Trump in 2016 suggested the DNC hack was an inside job, but later said it was their own fault for not having enough protection from outside hackers.
The DNC however is slamming the report as nothing more than a conspiracy theory.
In a statement the DNC issued they say:  'U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded the Russian government hacked the DNC in an attempt to interfere in the election.'
'Any suggestion otherwise is false and is just another conspiracy theory like those pushed by Trump and his administration,' the DNC continues. 'It's unfortunate that The Nation has decided to join the conspiracy theorists to push this narrative.'
