WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — A woman was shot by a Washington, D.C., police officer at the scene of a fire Saturday evening in Northeast Washington.
Police and firefighters were sent to a street about nine miles east of the White House for reports of a fire, the Washington Post reported, citing D.C. police chief Cathy L. Lanier. But on the way to the scene, police were told of someone there with a knife, she said.
The woman refused commands by police to drop it before she was shot, Lanier said, adding that the woman was taken to a hospital where she was reported in stable condition.
Emily Miller, chief investigative reporter for WTTG-TV in Washington, tweeted Saturday evening that the below video “appears to be the DC police officer shooting woman with knife.”

WRC-TV in Washington aired the clip and reported the woman was shot in the shoulder.
Lanier told the Post she understood videos had been made of the incident and asked that they be made available to police.
A fire department spokesman said the cause of the fire was under investigation. It was not clear what connection the woman may have had with it.
