The ignorant left and Che

‘No More Che Day’ a refreshing dose of reality

Be it in Tampa or just about anywhere in the country, it’s almost impossible to walk onto a college campus and not spot a student wearing a Che Guevara shirt in solidarity with the disenfranchised of the world. What is more troubling, pathetic, and even a bit creepy, is that sometimes those wearing the Che shirts are the tenured liberal professors who have no idea what a sadistic and extremely bigoted coward their hero was.
For the liberal students and professors who loudly proclaim their support for the rights of minorities and those in the gay community, it’s ironic they would glorify a man who regularly killed women and children and went out of his way to imprison, murder and even torture minorities and gays.
While the mainstream media will do all it can to ignore it, today is “No More Che Day” on a number of college campuses around the country. Naturally, the event is sponsored by a conservative group called the Young America’s Foundation. The YAF is populated by students who can read, do their own research, think for themselves and come to their own conclusions, which is precisely why they are sponsoring this event.
Of course, as many on the left can’t or won’t think for themselves, their love affair with the psychopathic Che lives on. Just the way he would want it, as he once said: “Youth should learn to think and act as a mass. It is criminal to think as individuals.” How proud Che would be of his mindless disciples of today.
One of them is actor Benicio del Toro, who said of the terrorist: “Dammit, this guy is cool. I hear of this guy and he’s got a cool name, Che Guevara. Groovy name, groovy man, groovy politics. I came across a picture of Che smiling in fatigues. I thought, ‘Dammit, this guy is cool-looking.’”
There you have it. No matter that he killed and tortured thousands of innocent people, because Che was a “groovy man” with a “cool name” and looked good in fatigues. That was more than enough for this actor to not only fall in love with him but to play him in a movie.
On this and other subjects, the purposeful ignorance of the left would counterbalance the known universe. Maybe before getting up and excitedly putting on their Che T-shirts, those who worship him should instead watch the existing videos of him bragging about the firing squads he commanded and witness the heads of his elderly and young victims being blown apart in graphic detail.
Unfortunately, some on the left go out of their way to turn Marxist and communist leaders into heroic figures. But like Stalin, Lenin, Castro, Mao and Pol Pot, Che Guevara was nothing more than a homicidal monster who put himself before all.
Not surprisingly, while he relished killing and torturing his innocent victims in the most barbaric ways, Che was little more than a coward. Before his capture in Bolivia, he ordered his guerrillas to fight to their last breath and their last bullet. But when he was confronted by Bolivian soldiers, he threw down his fully loaded weapons and whined: “Don’t shoot. I’m Che. I’m worth more to you alive than dead.”
There are many liberals who have dedicated their lives to helping those who have been discriminated against, and our nation is dramatically better off because of their efforts. Knowing the truth about Che Guevara and in defense of that noble cause, one would think these same people would never wear one of his T-shirts.
Sadly but predictably, a number of the intellectually lazy liberal students and professors on college campuses across the land who support and perpetuate the false narrative of this terrorist will instead vilify the young conservatives telling the truth about Che. It’s what they do.
