She was prepared...refuse to be a victim

Criminal Tries One of the Oldest Tricks in the Book on Armed Woman – Here’s How It Worked Out for Him

A knife-wielding criminal, who police say tried to force his way into a Alabama woman’s home after claiming he needed help, is no longer living. He was shot dead by the female homeowner who feared for her life and that of her niece.

Another suspect was arrested and charged with first degree robbery in connection with the case on Friday morning.
Police say 18-year-old Mikel Steven Smith, of Marbury, Ala., first knocked on the door of the woman’s Autauga County home and told her he needed help and was “broke down.” When she came to the door, Smith pushed the door open and entered the home with a knife.
With her life clearly threatened, the armed woman shot the intruder several times. He was pronounced dead Friday at around 12:30 a.m. about 30 feet away from the home.
“Drag marks lead investigators to believe another person was involved and a second ‘person of interest’ was taken into custody later Friday morning,” WSFA-TV reports.

It didn’t take long for police to hunt down 32-year-old James Bryan Vance and charge him with first degree robbery in connection to the incident. He was being held on $15,000 bond on Friday.
The case will be presented to a grand jury following an investigation, however, police do not expect the female homeowner to face any charges.
